โฌ Natural Jangli Soor Dand Pendant
A distinctive natural Pig Dand pendant, traditionally known as Jangli Soor Dand / Shikaar Dand, kept as close as possible to its natural form.
Unlike decorative versions fitted with large metal caps or artificial embellishments, this design has been deliberately kept simple, natural and traditional.
The original Dand itself forms the pendant.
There is no artificial filling inside the Dand and no decorative material has been used to conceal its natural construction.
The Dand is naturally hollow internally, as clearly shown in our close-up photographs. A small opening is made through the original material so that the black Dori can be secured, and the upper section is carefully wrapped with black cord to create a simple traditional pendant.
This natural construction allows the genuine shape, curvature, surface and characteristics of each individual Dand to remain clearly visible.
๐ฟ Kept As Natural As Possible
One of the main features of this design is its simplicity.
We have deliberately avoided adding decorative metalwork or unnecessary fittings so that the natural Dand remains the main feature.
The pendant consists essentially of:
Natural Pig Dand + Black Cord Wrapping + Adjustable Black Dori
The Dand is naturally hollow internally. It has not been filled with resin, plaster, plastic, metal or another artificial material.
The internal hollow structure may therefore be visible from the upper opening, exactly as shown in our photographs.
This is a natural characteristic of the Dand and not missing material or damage.
๐ Approximate Size & Weight
Length: Approx. 12cm
Width: Approx. 2cm
Thickness: Approx. 1.5cm
Weight: Approx. 32gโ45g
Because these are natural pieces, the dimensions and weight vary from one Dand to another.
A thicker, wider or more heavily curved Dand may naturally weigh more than a slimmer example.
The stated measurements should therefore be treated as an approximate guide rather than an exact specification for every individual pendant.
๐๏ธ Every Natural Dand Is Unique
No two natural Dand pieces are identical.
Your pendant may naturally vary in:
- Length
- Width
- Thickness
- Curvature
- Weight
- Cream/off-white shade
- Surface texture
- Natural grain
- Internal hollow shape
- Tip shape
- Natural lines
- Small marks
- Growth characteristics
These differences are part of the character of a genuine natural-material item.
The listing photographs show examples from the stock and demonstrate the types of natural variation that should be expected.
โ๏ธ Hand-Finished Construction
Each Dand requires preparation before it can be made into a wearable pendant.
The upper section may be cut, drilled, shaped or lightly ground where necessary so that the Dori can be attached securely.
The black cord is then wrapped around the upper section by hand.
Because this work is performed individually, the wrapping, knots and positioning may differ slightly between pieces.
Small differences in the finishing are normal and form part of the handcrafted nature of the product.
๐ Natural Enamel / Grinding Marks
Please examine the close-up photographs carefully.
During preparation and shaping, a small amount of the outer natural surface may occasionally be exposed, cut or ground.
One of our photographs deliberately shows an example where the outer enamel/surface layer has a visible cut or grinding area.
This can occur naturally during preparation of the Dand and allows us to show the product honestly rather than hiding these characteristics.
You may therefore notice small:
- Grinding marks
- Shaping marks
- Cut areas
- Fine scratches
- Natural surface lines
- Small chips or edge irregularities
- Colour differences
- Internal or external natural marks
These should be expected with natural Dand pieces and handcrafted preparation.
They do not normally affect the pendant's intended decorative use.
๐ณ๏ธ Naturally Hollow Interior
An important feature visible in our photographs is the naturally hollow centre of the Dand.
The hollow interior is left in its natural state.
We do not fill the cavity simply to make the pendant appear heavier or more solid.
This means customers can clearly see the genuine natural construction at the open upper section.
The shape, wall thickness and internal cavity will naturally vary between different pieces.
๐ค Adjustable Black Dori
The pendant is supplied with a black adjustable Dori.
The sliding/knot arrangement allows the necklace length to be adjusted according to personal preference.
The upper part of the Dand is also wrapped with matching black cord, creating a simple contrast against the natural cream-coloured Dand.
Because the Dori is tied and finished by hand, minor variations in:
- knot size,
- cord thickness,
- wrapping pattern,
- length,
- and finishing
may occur between individual pieces.
โ๏ธ Punjabi & Nihang-Inspired Shingar
Jangli Soor Dand / Shikaar Dand has associations in South Asian traditional and folk culture with hunting heritage, warrior symbolism and personal Shingar.
Natural Dand ornaments may be worn as:
- Necklace pendants
- Punjabi heritage accessories
- Traditional Shingar
- Nihang-inspired accessories
- Cultural collectibles
- Folk talismans
- Statement jewellery
- Heritage display pieces
Some Singhs may also choose natural Dand ornaments as part of traditional or Nihang-inspired Shingar according to personal preference.
๐งฟ Nazar, Evil Eye & Traditional Protection Beliefs
Within various South Asian folk traditions, natural Dand and similar objects have historically been associated symbolically with ideas including:
- Nazar / evil eye
- Protection from negative influences
- Strength
- Courage
- Fearlessness
- Warrior energy
- Personal power
- Protection symbolism
- Resistance to darkness
- Black magic traditions
- Magic spell traditions
- Negative energy traditions
- Spiritual protection symbolism
Some people traditionally wear or keep such objects as protective talismans or symbolic reminders of strength and fearlessness.
These references describe traditional, cultural and folkloric beliefs only.
No supernatural, magical, spiritual, medical or protective result is promised or guaranteed.
๐ฑ Varaha & Lord Vishnu Cultural Association
In Hindu tradition, Varaha is an avatar of Lord Vishnu, represented in pig/boar form.
The Varaha narrative is traditionally associated with Vishnu rescuing the Earth and overcoming a destructive force, and therefore carries themes of:
- Strength
- Victory over destructive forces
- Restoration
- Protection symbolism
- Courage
- Overcoming darkness
- Divine power
- Triumph over adversity
For this reason, some people may culturally or symbolically associate Pig Dand ornaments with strength, protection and the idea of overcoming negative forces.
This pendant itself is not being represented as a sacred Varaha relic or spiritually empowered object. The connection is provided only as cultural and religious background.
๐ฅ Symbolism
For collectors and wearers, Jangli Soor Dand may symbolically represent:
Strength | Courage | Fearlessness | Warrior Spirit | Power | Protection | Determination | Heritage
Different buyers may value the item for different reasons: its natural appearance, traditional symbolism, Punjabi heritage, Shikaar associations or simply as an unusual statement pendant.

โ Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an authentic natural Dand?
This product is sold as an authentic natural Pig Dand and not as a moulded synthetic imitation.
As with all natural materials, individual appearance varies considerably.
Is the inside filled?
No. The Dand is naturally hollow and no artificial filling has been added.
The hollow interior can be seen clearly in our photographs.
Why can I see an opening at the top?
This is the natural hollow interior of the Dand. The item has deliberately been kept close to its original natural construction.
How is the necklace attached?
The original Dand is prepared and drilled so that the Dori can pass through securely. The upper area is additionally wrapped with black cord by hand.
Is there a metal fitting?
No. This particular design intentionally avoids an ornate metal fitting so that the Dand remains as natural and simple as possible.
Is the black Dori adjustable?
Yes. The supplied black Dori has an adjustable knot-style arrangement.
Will my pendant be exactly 12cm?
Not necessarily. Approximately 12cm is the typical size. Natural variations in length and curvature should be expected.
Why does the weight range from 32g to 45g?
Each natural Dand differs in size, wall thickness, curve and overall dimensions, so weight naturally varies.
Are natural marks considered defects?
Natural colour differences, lines, surface marks, minor irregularities and internal variations are inherent characteristics of this material and should not automatically be considered defects.
Why might there be grinding or cut marks?
Some preparation is required when turning the natural Dand into a wearable pendant. Minor shaping, drilling or grinding marks may therefore occur.
Our photographs intentionally show these details.
What if some of the outer surface is visible where it has been ground?
This may happen during preparation. One listing photograph specifically shows an example of a small cut/grinding area in the outer natural surface so buyers understand the type of handmade finishing that may be present.
Is it associated with Nazar or protection?
In traditional folk practices, objects of this type have sometimes been regarded as symbolic talismans connected with Nazar, strength and protection from negative influences.
These are traditional beliefs rather than guaranteed properties.
Is it connected to black magic or magic spells?
Some folk traditions associate natural talismans with protection from black magic, spells, negative energy or similar influences. We mention these traditions for cultural context only and do not claim that this item can prevent or reverse supernatural effects.
Is there a connection with Lord Vishnu?
The cultural connection comes from Varaha, an avatar of Lord Vishnu represented in pig/boar form. The association relates to traditional themes of strength, overcoming destructive forces and restoring order.
This pendant itself is not claimed to be a sacred or spiritually empowered Varaha object.
