ਘਾਲਿ ਖਾਇ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਥਹੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਹੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਸੇਇ ॥   घालि खाइ किछु हथहु देइ ॥ नानक राहु पछाणहि सेइ ॥   Gẖāl kẖāe kicẖẖ hathahu ḏee. ਜੇ ਸਉ ਚੰਦਾ ਉਗਵਹਿ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜਹਿ ਹਜਾਰ ॥ ਏਤੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰ ॥ जे सउ चंदा उगवहि सूरज चड़हि हजार ॥ एते चानण होदिआं गुर बिनु घोर अंधार ॥ Je sao cẖanḏā ugvahi sūraj cẖaṛėh hajār. Ėṯe cẖānaṇ hiḏiāʼn gur bin gẖor anḏẖār. ਰਾਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਰਝਾਇਓ ਮਾਨਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥ ਲੋਭਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੋਭੀ ਲੋਭਾਇਓ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਚੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ राजन महि राजा उरझाइओ मानन महि अभिमानी ॥ लोभन महि लोभी लोभाइओ तिउ हरि रंगि रचे गिआनी ॥ Rājan mėh rājā urjẖāio mānan mėh abẖimānī. ਗੁਰ ਸਭਾ ਏਵ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾ ਨੇੜੈ ਨਾ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਾਂ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥ गुर सभा एव न पाईऐ ना नेड़ै ना दूरि ॥ नानक सतिगुरु तां मिलै जा मनु रहै हदूरि ॥ Gur sabẖā ev na pāīai nā neṛai nā ḏūr. Nānak saṯgur ṯāʼn milai jā man rahai haḏūr. The Society of the Guru is not obtained like this, by trying to be near or far away. ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥ मन रे गुरमुखि अगनि निवारि ॥ गुर का कहिआ मनि वसै हउमै त्रिसना मारि ॥ Man re gurmukẖ agan nivār. Gur kā kahiā man vasai haumai ṯarisnā mār. O mind, become Gurmukh, and extinguish the fire within.
