✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – 21 Harh | 5 July, Sunday | SGGS Ang 634 ✨
ਘਰ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਹਿਤੁ ਜਾ ਸਿਉ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਤ ਸੰਗ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
ਜਬ ਹੀ ਹੰਸ ਤਜੀ ਇਹ ਕਾਂਇਆ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਗੀ ॥
Ghar kī nār bahuṯ hiṯ jā sio saḏā rahaṯ sang lāgī.
Jab hī hans ṯajī ih kāniā pareṯ pareṯ kar bhāgī.
🌿 Meaning (English):
Even the wife, who deeply loves you and remains constantly by your side, turns away crying, “Ghost! Ghost!” the moment the soul departs from the body.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi):
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਆਤਮਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ “ਪ੍ਰੇਤ” ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
जिस जीवनसाथी से मनुष्य बहुत प्रेम करता है और जो सदा उसके साथ रहती है, आत्मा के शरीर छोड़ते ही वही शरीर को ‘प्रेत’ कहकर उससे दूर हो जाती है।
💫 Reflection:
This Shabad is a profound reminder of the temporary nature of our physical existence and worldly relationships. Gurbani is not asking us to love our family less; rather, it teaches us to understand that every relationship in this world is bound by time.
The body that is cherished throughout life is respected only while the soul resides within it. Once the soul departs, even those dearest to us must let go. This truth encourages us to reflect on what truly accompanies us beyond this life. Wealth, status, and even the physical body remain behind, but our actions, our devotion, and our connection with Waheguru stay with the soul.
By remembering this reality, we learn to value our relationships with love and gratitude while keeping our deepest attachment to the Eternal. Gurbani guides us to live responsibly in the world without becoming spiritually dependent on things that cannot last forever.
