Daily Hukamnama Reflection – 2 Jeth | 16 May, Saturday | SGGS Ang 20 ✨
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇੜੀ ਸਚ ਕੀ ਤਰੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
ਇਕਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਜਾਵਹੀ ਪੂਰਿ ਭਰੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ॥
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਮਤੀ ਬੂਡੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੁ ਤਾਰਿ ॥
Nānak beṛī sach kī tarīai gur vīchār.
Ik āvahi ik jāvhī pūr bhare ahaṅkār.
Manhaṭẖ matī būdīai gurmukh sach so ṯār.
🌿 Meaning (English):
O Nanak, through reflecting on the Guru’s wisdom, the boat of Truth carries one across. Many come and go in this world filled with ego. Through stubborn-mindedness, the intellect drowns, but the Gurmukh who lives in Truth is saved.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi):
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੱਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੱਚ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
गुरु के विचार और ज्ञान द्वारा सत्य की नाव मनुष्य को पार लगाती है। अहंकार से भरे लोग आते-जाते रहते हैं। मन की जिद के कारण बुद्धि डूब जाती है, लेकिन गुरमुख सत्य के मार्ग से पार हो जाता है।
💫 Reflection:
This Shabad reminds us that the true path across life’s challenges is found through Guru’s wisdom and living in Truth. Ego and stubbornness pull the mind away from peace, causing confusion and spiritual drowning.
Many people spend their lives trapped in pride, constantly chasing temporary things, yet real stability comes only through humility and reflection on Gurbani. When we become Gurmukh—turning our face toward the Guru—we begin to rise above ego and see life more clearly.
The “Boat of Truth” represents the guidance of Gurbani. Holding onto this wisdom allows us to navigate life safely, no matter how stormy the world may become.
