✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – SGGS Ang 20 ✨
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇੜੀ ਸਚ ਕੀ ਤਰੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
ਇਕਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਜਾਵਹੀ ਪੂਰਿ ਭਰੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ॥
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਮਤੀ ਬੂਡੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੁ ਤਾਰਿ ॥
नानक बेड़ी सच की तरीऐ गुर वीचारि ॥
इकि आवहि इकि जावही पूरि भरे अहंकारि ॥
मनहठि मती बूडीऐ गुरमुखि सचु सु तारि ॥
Nānak beṛī sacẖ kī ṯarīai gur vīcẖār.
Ik āvahi ik jāvhī pūr bẖare ahaʼnkār.
Manhaṯẖ maṯī būdīai gurmukẖ sacẖ so ṯār.
🌿 Meaning (English):
O Nanak, the Boat of Truth carries one across when guided by the Guru's wisdom. Many come and go in this world filled with ego. Through stubbornness the intellect is drowned, but the Gurmukh, who follows Truth, is carried across.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi - Gurmukhi):
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੱਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਡੁਬੋ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
हे नानक! गुरु की शिक्षा द्वारा सत्य की नाव मनुष्य को संसार-सागर से पार उतारती है। अहंकार से भरे लोग आते-जाते रहते हैं। हठ और अहंकार मनुष्य को डुबो देते हैं, जबकि गुरुमुख सत्य के सहारे पार हो जाता है।
💫 Reflection:
Guru Sahib compares Truth to a boat that safely carries us across the ocean of worldly life. But stepping into that boat requires humility. Ego convinces us that we already know everything, while the Guru teaches us to remain open, teachable, and willing to change.
Many people spend their lives chasing status, recognition, and personal desires, only to leave the world with empty hands. Gurbani reminds us that stubbornness and ego prevent spiritual growth, whereas humility and obedience to the Guru allow us to move closer to Waheguru.
Every day presents a choice: follow the voice of ego or the wisdom of the Guru. The path of the Gurmukh is not always the easiest, but it is the one that leads to lasting peace, purpose, and liberation.
