ਆਸਾੜੁ ਤਪੰਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੁ ਨ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਮਾਣਸ ਸੰਦੀ ਆਸ ॥
आसाड़ु तपंदा तिसु लगै हरि नाहु न जिंना पासि ॥
जगजीवन पुरखु तिआगि कै माणस संदी आस ॥
Āsāṛ ṯapanḏā ṯis lagai har nāhu na jinna pās.
Jagjīvan purakẖ ṯiāg kai māṇas sanḏī ās.
🌿 Meaning (English):
The month of Aasaarh seems unbearably hot to those who are not close to their Husband Lord. Forsaking the Life-Giver of the world, they place their hopes in mere mortals.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi - Gurmukhi):
ਹਾੜ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਪਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ। ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਦਾਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਸ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬੇਚੈਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
आषाढ़ का महीना उन लोगों को तपता हुआ प्रतीत होता है जो प्रभु के निकट नहीं हैं। जो संसार के जीवनदाता परमात्मा को छोड़कर मनुष्यों पर आशा रखते हैं, वे भीतर से अशांत रहते हैं।
💫 Reflection:
Today marks Sangrand, the beginning of the Punjabi month of Harh (Haadh). In Gurbani, the changing seasons are used to teach timeless spiritual lessons. Guru Sahib explains that the real heat of Harh is not the temperature outside, but the burning restlessness felt by a soul separated from Waheguru.
Many people seek security in wealth, status, relationships, or worldly support. While these have their place, they cannot provide lasting peace because they are temporary. When our hopes depend entirely on the world, disappointment and anxiety often follow.
The Guru directs us towards a higher reliance — trust in the One who never changes. A heart connected to Waheguru remains cool, peaceful, and steady even when life feels difficult. Sangrand is therefore not just the start of a new month; it is an opportunity to renew our connection with the Divine and begin again with faith, gratitude, and remembrance.

As the new month begins, place your trust in Waheguru rather than temporary supports. Let this Sangrand be a fresh start filled with faith, gratitude, and Naam.
