📖 The Sikh Kangha

The Kangha (ਕੰਘਾ) is one of the Five Ks (Panj Kakaar), the sacred articles of faith given to the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji during the Vaisakhi Amrit Sanchar of 1699.

The Five Ks are:

  • Kesh (Uncut Hair)
  • Kangha (Wooden Comb)
  • Kara (Steel or Iron Bracelet)
  • Kachhera
  • Kirpan

The Kangha represents:

  • Cleanliness
  • Discipline
  • Self-respect
  • Organisation
  • Caring for the gift of uncut hair (Kesh)

Traditionally, practising Sikhs use the Kangha at least twice daily to keep their hair clean, neat and free from tangles. It is commonly worn tucked beneath the Joora (Rishi Knot) under the Dastar (Turban).

As recorded in the Tankhanama of Bhai Nand Lal Ji:

ਕੰਘਾ ਦੋਨਉਂ ਵਕਤ ਕਰ, ਪਾਗ ਚੁਨਹਿ ਕਰ ਬਾਂਧਈ ॥

"Comb your hair twice daily and tie a fresh turban."

The Kangha serves as a constant reminder that while Sikhs accept God's creation naturally, they should also care for it with cleanliness and discipline.

💎 Premium Quality

Each comb is individually crafted from natural wood and hand-finished to produce a smooth surface and rounded teeth for comfortable everyday use.

Natural wood helps minimise static compared with many plastic combs while providing a pleasant traditional grooming experience.
