ਨਕਿ ਨਥ ਖਸਮ ਹਥ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਧਕੇ ਦੇ ॥ ਜਹਾ ਦਾਣੇ ਤਹਾਂ ਖਾਣੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਹੇ ॥   नकि नथ खसम हथ किरतु धके दे ॥ जहा दाणे तहां खाणे नानका सचु हे ॥   Nak nath kẖasam hath kiraṯ ḏẖake ḏe. Jahā ḏāṇe ṯahāʼn kẖāṇe nānkā sacẖ he.   The string through the nose is in the hands of the Lord Master; one's own actions drive him on. ਤੁਰਦੇ ਕਉ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਉਡਤੇ ਕਉ ਉਡਤਾ ॥ ਜੀਵਤੇ ਕਉ ਜੀਵਤਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੂਏ ਕਉ ਮੂਆ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਆ ॥    तुरदे कउ तुरदा मिलै उडते कउ उडता ॥ जीवते कउ जीवता मिलै मूए कउ मूआ ॥ नानक सो सालाहीऐ जिनि कारणु कीआ ॥  Ŧurḏe kao ṯurḏā milai udṯe kao udṯā.
