✨ Reflection
Today's Hukamnama presents one of the most comforting ways of understanding our relationship with Waheguru: the Supreme King is also our true Friend.
Guru Sahib calls Him:
“ਸਜਣੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ” — the True Friend, the True King.
Human life is filled with relationships. Some remain with us for decades, while others change with circumstances. People may genuinely love and support us, yet every human relationship has limitations.
Gurbani directs us towards a relationship that does not depend upon changing circumstances — our relationship with Waheguru.
The One who is described as “ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾਂ ਦੈ ਸਾਹੁ”, the King above kings, is not presented as distant or inaccessible. Guru Sahib lovingly calls Him Sajan — Friend.
This is a profound spiritual reassurance.
We may approach Waheguru not only when performing formal prayer, but throughout ordinary life — in happiness, uncertainty, gratitude, loneliness and difficulty. Through Naam Simran, Gurbani and Ardas, the mind learns to remain close to its Divine Friend.
Guru Sahib then says:
“ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਸਿ ਬਹਿਠਿਆ ਸੋਹੀਐ” — sitting close to Him, we become beautiful.
This beauty is deeper than outward appearance. Closeness to the Guru gradually beautifies our thoughts and character. Ego can soften into humility, anger into patience, selfishness into compassion and fear into trust.
The company we keep influences us. Gurbani therefore gives us the highest Sangat — remain close to the One whose presence transforms the heart.
And when worldly support feels uncertain, the final words provide reassurance:
He is the support and trust of all.
We may not always know what tomorrow will bring, but Gurbani teaches us where our deepest trust can rest.
🙏 Message for Today
Whatever you are carrying today — happiness, worry, uncertainty or hope — share it with Waheguru as you would with your closest friend.
Spend a few quiet moments with Naam or Gurbani and allow the mind to sit in the presence of the True Friend.
May Guru Sahib bless us to remain close to Waheguru, develop beautiful qualities through His presence and place our deepest trust in the One who is the support of all. 🙏
