Miṯẖ bolṛā jī har sajaṇ suāmī morā.
Hao sammal thakī jī oh kaḏe na bolai kaurā.

🌿 English Meaning

My dear Lord and Master, my Divine Friend, speaks with sweetness. I have grown weary of testing Him, yet He never speaks harshly or bitterly to me.

✨ Reflection

Today's Hukamnama gives us an extraordinarily tender description of Waheguru:

My Lord, my Friend, speaks sweetly.

Gurbani does not present our relationship with Waheguru as distant or cold. Guru Sahib uses the beautiful word “ਸਜਣੁ” — Sajan, Friend.

This reminds us that we can bring our entire heart before Waheguru.

Our gratitude, hopes, questions, worries and even our moments of disappointment can become part of Ardas.

Sometimes life does not unfold according to our plans. We may pray sincerely for something and receive a different outcome. During such moments, the mind can begin questioning Waheguru.

The second line acknowledges something deeply human:

I have become weary of testing Him.

Yet despite our questioning, impatience and limited understanding, Guru Sahib says:

He never speaks bitterly.

Waheguru's wisdom does not become harsh simply because we fail to understand it.

Through Gurbani, Guru Sahib continues to guide us patiently — drawing the mind away from ego, fear and attachment towards Naam, humility and love.

There is also a beautiful practical lesson here about our own speech.

If Gurbani praises Divine sweetness, then sweetness should gradually appear within the Sikh's own character.

Words can heal or wound. A gentle sentence can calm someone who is struggling, while a harsh sentence spoken in anger can remain in another person's heart for years.

Speaking sweetly does not mean avoiding truth. We can be honest without being cruel, firm without being insulting and corrective without humiliating another person.

The more Gurbani enters the heart, the more it should become visible in how we treat and speak to others.

🙏 Message for Today

Pay attention to your words today.

Before responding in anger, pause.

Ask yourself:

Can I say what needs to be said without bitterness?

And if something in your own life is difficult to understand, speak openly to Waheguru through Ardas and listen to Guru Sahib through Gurbani.

May Guru Sahib bless us with hearts filled with Prem, words filled with sweetness and unwavering trust in Waheguru through every circumstance. 🙏
