✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – SGGS Ang 666 ✨
ਹਮ ਭੀਖਕ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਨਿਜ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
ਹੋਹੁ ਦੈਆਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਕੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
हम भीखक भेखारी तेरे तू निज पति है दाता ॥
होहु दैआल नामु देहु मंगत जन कंउ सदा रहउ रंगि राता ॥
Ham bẖīkẖak bẖekẖārī ṯere ṯū nij paṯ hai ḏāṯā.
Hohu ḏaiāl nām ḏeh mangaṯ jan kaʼnu saḏā rahao rang rāṯā.
🌿 Meaning (English):
I am Your humble beggar; You alone are my Lord and the Great Giver. Be merciful and bless this humble seeker with Your Naam, so that I may forever remain immersed in Your Love.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi - Gurmukhi):
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
हे वाहेगुरु! मैं आपका विनम्र याचक हूँ और आप ही मेरे स्वामी तथा महान दाता हैं। मुझ पर दया करें और मुझे अपने नाम की दात प्रदान करें, ताकि मैं सदा आपके प्रेम के रंग में रंगा रहूँ।
💫 Reflection:
This beautiful Hukamnama teaches us what we should truly ask from Waheguru. We spend much of our lives asking for success, possessions, comfort, opportunities, and solutions to our problems. Yet Guru Sahib places a far greater prayer before us—the gift of Naam and lasting love for the Divine.
Calling ourselves a “ਭੀਖਕ”—a humble seeker—reminds us that everything we possess is ultimately a gift. Our life, abilities, relationships, opportunities, and every breath come through the grace of the Great Giver.
The greatest blessing, therefore, is not simply receiving more worldly things. It is receiving a heart that remembers Waheguru in every circumstance and remains coloured in His Love.
When Naam becomes our treasure, gratitude replaces entitlement, humility softens ego, and our relationship with Waheguru becomes more important than what we can receive from Him.

When you make Ardas, ask not only for what you want in life. Ask Waheguru for the priceless gift of Naam and a heart that remains forever coloured in His Love.
