About the Sikh Kara

The Kara (ਕੜਾ) is one of the Five Ks (Panj Kakaar) worn by initiated Sikhs. It symbolises:

  • Eternal nature of Waheguru (God), having no beginning or end.
  • Strength, discipline and commitment.
  • Honest living and righteous actions.
  • Unity within the Khalsa Panth.

The Kara was established by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji during the creation of the Khalsa in 1699. It serves as a constant reminder for Sikhs to live truthfully, perform righteous deeds and remember Waheguru in all aspects of life.

Historically, some warrior Karas featured decorative or defensive designs inspired by battlefield equipment. This modern version is intended as a symbolic and decorative bracelet only.
