✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – 22 Sawan | 6 August, Thursday | SGGS Ang 749 ✨
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
ਬੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
Jis ke sir ūpar ṯūʼn suāmī so ḏukh kaisā pāvai.
Bol na jāṇai māiā maḏ māṯā marṇā chīṯ na āvai.
🌿 Meaning (English):
One who lives under the care and protection of the Lord need not be overwhelmed by suffering. Yet the person intoxicated by the illusion of Maya forgets to remember the Divine and does not reflect upon the certainty of death.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi):
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ। ਪਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਸਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
जिसके सिर पर प्रभु का हाथ है, उसे किसी दुख से भयभीत होने की आवश्यकता नहीं। लेकिन माया के नशे में डूबा हुआ मनुष्य प्रभु का नाम भूल जाता है और मृत्यु की सच्चाई को भी याद नहीं रखता।
💫 Reflection:
This Shabad reminds us that the greatest security in life is not found in wealth, possessions, or worldly success—it is found in the protection of Waheguru. A heart connected to the Divine gains the strength to face every challenge with faith and courage.
Guru Sahib also cautions us about becoming absorbed in Maya. When our attention is consumed by temporary pleasures and material pursuits, we can easily forget the true purpose of life. We begin to live as though everything in this world is permanent, overlooking the reality that life is precious and limited.
Remembering this truth is not meant to create fear. Instead, it encourages us to live each day with gratitude, purpose, and spiritual awareness. By keeping Naam at the centre of our lives, we rise above anxiety and develop the inner confidence that comes from trusting Waheguru's care.
