✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – 20 Sawan | 4 August, Tuesday | SGGS Ang 1349 ✨
ਅਵਲਿ ਅਲਹ ਨੂਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਬੰਦੇ ॥
ਏਕ ਨੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ ॥
Aval alah nūr upāiā kuḏraṯ ke sabẖ banḏe.
Ėk nūr ṯe sabẖ jag upjiā kaun bẖale ko manḏe.
🌿 Meaning (English):
First, the Creator brought forth the Divine Light, and through His Creative Power all beings came into existence. From the One Light, the entire world was created. So who can be called good, and who can be called bad?
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi):
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ। ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਇੱਕੋ ਨੂਰ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਕੌਣ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੌਣ ਮਾੜਾ?
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
सबसे पहले परमात्मा ने अपना दिव्य प्रकाश प्रकट किया और अपनी शक्ति से समस्त जीवों की रचना की। जब पूरा संसार एक ही नूर से उत्पन्न हुआ है, तो फिर कौन अच्छा और कौन बुरा कहा जा सकता है?
💫 Reflection:
This timeless Shabad by Guru Nanak Dev Ji reminds us of one of the most profound truths in Gurbani: all humanity shares the same Divine Light. Differences of religion, nationality, language, caste, colour, or status are created by human thinking—not by Waheguru.
When we recognise that every person has been created from the same Divine source, our attitude towards others begins to change. Pride gives way to humility, prejudice gives way to respect, and hatred gives way to compassion. We stop judging people by their outward identity and begin to see the Divine Light shining within them.
This teaching is especially relevant today, when the world is often divided by labels and differences. Gurbani calls us to rise above these divisions and treat every human being with dignity, kindness, and love. True spirituality is not measured by how we treat those who are like us, but by how we treat every soul as a child of the same Creator.
