Jaesé jal ṫé buḋbuḋaa upjae binsae neeṫ.
Jag rachnaa ṫaesé rachee kaho Naanak sun meeṫ.

🌿 English Meaning

As bubbles arise from water and disappear again, so has this world been created. Guru Nanak Sahib Ji says: listen, O my friend, and understand the temporary nature of worldly existence.

✨ Reflection

Today's Hukamnama gives us one of Gurbani's most vivid illustrations of the temporary nature of worldly existence — a bubble appearing upon water.

A bubble emerges, takes shape, exists for a short while and then disappears. For those few moments it appears separate from the water, yet its existence is brief.

Guru Sahib asks us to recognise something similar about the world around us.

Our possessions, achievements, status, difficulties, pleasures and circumstances can feel permanent while we are experiencing them. Yet time continually changes everything.

Even this physical life, which sometimes feels as though it will continue indefinitely, is limited.

This teaching is not intended to create sadness or fear. Rather, it can free us from unnecessary attachment.

When we understand that circumstances are temporary, success need not make us arrogant and hardship need not make us hopeless. Both will change.

The awareness of life's impermanence also helps us reconsider our priorities.

How much time do we spend worrying about things that may eventually mean very little?

How much energy do we invest in possessions, arguments, ego or resentment?

And how much time do we give to Naam, Gurbani, Seva, family, compassion and spiritual growth?

Guru Sahib is not telling us to abandon worldly responsibilities. Sikhi teaches us to live actively within the world, earn honestly, serve others and fulfil our duties.

But while living within the world, we should remember what is temporary and what connects us with the Eternal.

The bubble eventually disappears. The opportunity of this human life will also pass.

The wisdom lies in using the time we have well.

🙏 Message for Today

Pause for a moment and ask yourself:

If life is temporary, what truly deserves my time today?

Perhaps an old resentment can be released. Perhaps someone deserves your love or forgiveness. Perhaps five minutes that would disappear into distraction can instead become five minutes of Naam Simran.

Do not fear the temporary nature of life — let it teach you to value life more deeply.

May Guru Sahib bless us with the wisdom to appreciate life's blessings without becoming trapped by attachment, and to use this precious human life in remembrance of Waheguru. 🙏
