📖 Description
The Kara (ਕੜਾ | کڑا | कड़ा) is one of the Five Kakars (Five Ks) worn by initiated Sikhs and represents an important symbol of Sikh faith, discipline and commitment.
Instituted by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji during the establishment of the Khalsa in 1699, the Kara reminds Sikhs to live honestly, perform righteous actions and remain connected to Waheguru at all times.
Its circular shape, having neither beginning nor end, symbolises the eternal nature of God and the unbreakable bond between the Sikh and the Guru.
Historically, Sarbloh Karas were handcrafted by traditional blacksmiths from wrought iron. They were designed to be simple, strong and durable. Some historic battlefield variations even served practical defensive purposes during close combat.
These Karas continue to be handcrafted using traditional methods. As a result, every piece has its own individual appearance and character.
