✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – 26 Sawan | 10 August, Monday | SGGS Ang 641 ✨
ਮੋਨਿ ਭਇਓ ਕਰਪਾਤੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਗਨ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਬਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Mon bh aio karpāṯī rahio nagan firio ban māhī.
Ŧat ṯirath sabẖ ḏẖarṯī bẖarmio ḏubiḏẖā cẖẖutkai nāhī.
🌿 Meaning (English):
A person may remain silent, use his hands as a begging bowl, wander unclothed through forests, or travel to sacred places across the world; yet these outward practices alone cannot remove inner duality.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi):
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹੇ, ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਬਣਾਵੇ, ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਟਕੇ ਜਾਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕਰੇ, ਪਰ ਕੇਵਲ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
मनुष्य मौन रहे, हाथों को भिक्षा-पात्र बनाए, जंगलों में भटके या अनेक तीर्थों की यात्रा करे, फिर भी केवल बाहरी कर्मों से मन का द्वैत दूर नहीं होता।
💫 Reflection:
This Shabad reminds us that spirituality is not measured by outward appearance, rituals, or physical hardship. A person may travel to sacred places or practise severe discipline, yet the mind can remain caught in ego, doubt, and duality.
Guru Sahib directs us inward. Real transformation begins when Gurbani changes our thoughts, our behaviour, and the way we see others. Naam, humility, truthful living, and sincere devotion cleanse the heart in a way that outward practices alone cannot.
The true spiritual journey is therefore within. When the mind becomes centred on Waheguru, duality begins to fade and we experience a deeper connection with the One.
