✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – 21 Sawan | 5 August, Wednesday | SGGS Ang 474 ✨
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਚਲਈ ਨਾਲਿ ਖਸਮ ਚਲੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
Jis ḏā ḏiṯā kẖāvṇā ṯis kahīai sābās.
Nānak hukam na chalai nāl khasam chalai ardās.
🌿 Meaning (English):
Let us praise the One from whom we receive all our sustenance. O Nanak, no one can command the Lord; only humble prayer is accepted in His presence.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi):
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲਦਾ; ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਿਮਰ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
जिस प्रभु की कृपा से हमें जीवन और भोजन प्राप्त होता है, उसकी सदा स्तुति करनी चाहिए। हे नानक! प्रभु पर किसी का आदेश नहीं चलता; उसके दर पर केवल विनम्र प्रार्थना ही स्वीकार होती है।
💫 Reflection:
This Shabad teaches us the difference between entitlement and gratitude. Every breath we take, every meal we eat, and every blessing we receive is a gift from Waheguru. Rather than taking these gifts for granted, Gurbani encourages us to live with a heart full of thankfulness.
Guru Sahib also reminds us that our relationship with Waheguru is built on humility, not demands. We cannot command the Divine according to our wishes. Instead, we offer Ardas with faith, trusting that Waheguru knows what is best for us. His wisdom is perfect, even when His answers differ from our expectations.
A grateful heart naturally becomes a humble heart. When we recognise that everything ultimately comes from the Divine, we complain less, appreciate more, and learn to accept Hukam with peace. Gratitude transforms ordinary moments into opportunities to remember Waheguru.
