✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – SGGS Ang 1367 ✨
ਕਬੀਰ ਗੰਗਾ ਤੀਰ ਜੁ ਘਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨੀਰੁ ॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਇਉ ਕਹਿ ਰਮੇ ਕਬੀਰ ॥
कबीर गंगा तीर जु घरु करहि पीवहि निरमल नीरु ॥
बिनु हरि भगति न मुकति होइ इउ कहि रमे कबीर ॥
Kabeer gangaa ṫeer jo ghar karahi peevėh nirmal neer.
Bin har bhagaṫ na mukaṫ hoé io kahi ramé Kabeer.

ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ ਬਣਾ ਲਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਇਸ ਅਟੱਲ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
English:
Kabir Ji teaches that even if someone makes a home on the banks of the Ganges and drinks its pure water, liberation cannot be attained without loving devotion to the Lord.
Hindi:
कबीर जी कहते हैं कि यदि कोई गंगा के किनारे अपना घर बना ले और उसका पवित्र जल पीता रहे, तब भी प्रभु की भक्ति और सिमरन के बिना मुक्ति प्राप्त नहीं होती। कबीर जी इस अटल सत्य को प्रकट करते हैं।
💫 Reflection:
This Shabad gives us a powerful reminder that spirituality is not determined by where we live, what outward rituals we perform, or how sacred our surroundings may appear.
Kabir Ji uses the example of living beside the Ganges and drinking its pure water to make a deeper point. A sacred place may inspire us, but simply being physically close to something holy does not automatically transform the heart.
Gurbani directs our attention inward.
True spiritual progress comes through devotion, remembrance of Waheguru, humility, and a sincere change within ourselves. We may visit holy places and follow religious traditions, but their real value is realised when they bring us closer to the Divine.
The message is not to reject sacred places or traditions, but to understand their deeper purpose. Without devotion, an outward practice alone cannot give us inner liberation.
Wherever we may be, our heart can become a sacred place when it remains connected with Waheguru through Naam, love, and remembrance.
