✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – SGGS Ang 474 ✨
ਚੰਗੈ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਰਿ ਮੰਨੇ ਮੰਦੈ ਮੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
ਆਸਕੁ ਏਹੁ ਨ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿ ਲੇਖੈ ਵਰਤੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
चंगै चंगा करि मंने मंदै मंदा होइ ॥
आसकु एहु न आखीऐ जि लेखै वरतै सोइ ॥
Changai changā kar mannē mandai mandā hoi.
Āsak ehu na ākhīai je lekhai vartai soi.
🌿 Meaning (English):
One who is pleased only when good things happen and becomes unhappy when circumstances turn difficult should not be called a true lover. Such love is still based on personal gain and calculation.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi - Gurmukhi):
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੇਵਲ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਜਾਂ ਔਖੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅਜੇ ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ। ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
जो मनुष्य केवल सुख मिलने पर प्रभु से प्रसन्न रहता है और कठिन समय आने पर निराश या नाराज़ हो जाता है, उसका प्रेम अभी निःस्वार्थ नहीं है। सच्चा प्रेम वह है जो हर परिस्थिति में प्रभु की रज़ा को स्वीकार करे।
💫 Reflection:
Guru Sahib gives us a profound definition of true love. If our faith remains strong only when life goes according to our wishes, then our relationship with Waheguru can become like a transaction—we remember Him when we receive what we want and question Him when we do not.
True devotion goes deeper. It means remembering Waheguru in happiness and hardship, in success and disappointment, and trusting Him even when we cannot understand what is happening.
This does not mean that pain should not hurt or that we should suppress our emotions. Gurbani teaches us instead to remain connected to Waheguru through every season of life. True love says: Whether today brings comfort or difficulty, my faith in You remains.

Do not love Waheguru only for what He gives. Remember Him in both joy and difficulty, and let your faith remain steady through every change in life.
