ਹਮ ਭੀਖਕ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਨਿਜ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
ਹੋਹੁ ਦੈਆਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਕੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
हम भीखक भेखारी तेरे तू निज पति है दाता ॥
होहु दैआल नामु देहु मंगत जन कंउ सदा रहउ रंगि राता ॥
Ham bẖīkẖak bẖekẖārī ṯere ṯū nij paṯ hai ḏāṯā.
Hohu ḏaiāl nām ḏeh mangaṯ jan kaʼnu saḏā rahao rang rāṯā.

Punjabi:
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ।
English:
I am a humble beggar of Yours; You are the Master and the Great Giver. Be Merciful and bless me with Your Name, so that I may forever remain imbued with Your Love.
Hindi:
मैं तेरा एक भिखारी हूँ; तू ही मेरा स्वामी और दाता है। हे प्रभु! दयालु होकर मुझे अपना नाम बख्श, ताकि मैं सदा तेरे प्रेम में रंगा रहूं।

This Shabad expresses the deepest भावना of humility and surrender.
Guru Sahib teaches us to approach Waheguru not with pride, but with the heart of a humble seeker. When we see ourselves as beggars of the Divine, we become open to receiving the greatest gift — Naam.
In the world, we often ask for material things — success, comfort, and recognition. But Gurbani guides us to ask for something far greater: a constant connection with Waheguru.
True wealth is not what we possess, but what fills our heart. When we are blessed with Naam, our mind becomes steady, our worries fade, and we remain immersed in divine love.
To live in this state is to stay forever connected, forever fulfilled.
