Hao āiā ḏẖūrahu cẖal kai mai ṯakī ṯao sarṇāe jīo.
Mai āsā rakẖī cẖiṯ mėh merā sabẖo ḏukẖ gavāe jīo.
I have come from so far, seeking the protection of Your Sanctuary. Within my heart, I have placed my hope in You; please take away all my pain and suffering.
(Punjabi - Gurmukhi):
This beautiful Hukamnama speaks to anyone who has travelled through uncertainty, struggle, disappointment, or spiritual wandering and finally turns wholeheartedly towards Waheguru.
“ਮੈ ਤਕੀ ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਇ” expresses something deeper than simply asking for help. It is the recognition that our lasting refuge is with the Divine. We may seek security in possessions, people, plans, or our own abilities, but each of these has limitations. Gurbani directs us towards the One whose support is beyond changing circumstances.
The second line is filled with hope: “ਮੈ ਆਸਾ ਰਖੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਮਹਿ” — I have placed my hope within my heart. This is not a promise that life will never contain difficulty. Rather, it teaches us where to place our heart when difficulties come.
When we bring our worries into Ardas, connect with Naam, and seek the Guru's guidance, our relationship with suffering begins to change. We receive strength to endure, wisdom to understand, and faith to continue walking forward.
Whatever journey has brought you to this moment, place your hope in Waheguru. Come into His Sanctuary through Gurbani, Naam and Ardas, and trust His Grace to carry you through your difficulties.
🙏 Shared with gratitude to Guru Ram Das Ji for His endless blessings 🙏
