✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – SGGS Ang 472

Jeṯe ḏāṇe ann ke jīā bājẖ na koe.
Pahilā pāṇī jīo hai jiṯ hariā sabẖ koe.

🌿 English Meaning

As many as are the grains of corn, none is without life. First there is life in water, through which everything becomes green, nourished and alive.

✨ Reflection

Today's Hukamnama invites us to recognise something extraordinary within the ordinary: life is present throughout Waheguru's creation.

Guru Sahib points towards two things we encounter every day — grain and water. We may see them simply as food and drink, yet Gurbani encourages us to look more deeply.

A tiny grain carries within it the potential for new life. Water nourishes the earth, allows plants to grow and sustains countless forms of life. What appears ordinary becomes remarkable when viewed with spiritual awareness.

“ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਜੀਉ ਹੈ” reminds us of the fundamental importance of water within creation.

This awareness can transform our relationship with the world around us. Food is no longer something to waste carelessly. Water is not something to take endlessly for granted. Nature is not merely a collection of resources for human use.

Everything exists within the vast interconnected creation of Waheguru.

Gurbani repeatedly teaches us humility. Human beings are part of creation, not separate from it. The food that nourishes us depends upon soil, water, sunlight and countless processes beyond our control.

Recognising this can cultivate gratitude, compassion and responsibility.

Before eating, we can appreciate the blessing before us. When using water, we can remember its precious role in sustaining life. When looking at nature, we can recognise something of the Creator through His creation.

Spiritual awareness is not limited to moments of prayer. It can enter the simplest parts of everyday life — drinking water, eating food and observing the natural world around us.

🙏 Message for Today

Take a moment today to appreciate something you normally take for granted.

A glass of water. A piece of fruit. A grain of food. A tree growing outside.

Behind these ordinary things lies the extraordinary system of life created by Waheguru.

May Guru Sahib bless us with gratitude for every gift, compassion towards living creation and wisdom to use the blessings of nature responsibly. 🙏
