✨ Reflection

Today's Hukamnama is a deeply humble prayer — an Ardas for refuge, forgiveness and Bandagi.

The first words are:

“ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ” — O Lord, I seek Your refuge.

There are moments when human strength, planning and understanding reach their limits. We may try everything within our ability and still find ourselves uncertain about what comes next.

Gurbani teaches us that surrender at such a moment is not weakness.

To seek Waheguru's refuge is to recognise that we do not have to carry every burden through ego and self-reliance alone.

Then comes another beautiful assurance:

“ਤੂ ਬਖਸੰਦਗੀ” — You are the Forgiving One.

We often approach ourselves harshly. We remember our mistakes, regrets and shortcomings. Sometimes we may even feel spiritually unworthy because we have not lived as we believe we should.

But Baba Farid Ji turns towards the Divine as the source of forgiveness.

This teaches us something essential about spiritual growth: the path back towards Waheguru remains open through humility, sincere remembrance and Divine grace.

The second line contains an especially powerful prayer:

“ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੈ ਖੈਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਬੰਦਗੀ ॥”

The request is not primarily for wealth, possessions, recognition or worldly comfort.

The prayer is for Bandagi.

That changes our understanding of what a true blessing can be.

We often ask Waheguru to change our circumstances. Gurbani teaches us also to ask Waheguru to change our heart.

Give me Naam.

Give me humility.

Give me the desire to remember You.

Give me the strength to remain connected with You when circumstances are difficult.

Give me gratitude when circumstances are comfortable.

A person may possess many worldly things and still feel spiritually empty. Another may have fewer possessions yet carry tremendous inner peace because the heart has discovered Bandagi.

The Hukamnama therefore invites us to reconsider what we call “Khair” — a true blessing.

Perhaps one of the greatest blessings is a heart that naturally turns towards Waheguru.

🙏 Message for Today

When you make Ardas today, certainly place your needs and worries before Waheguru.

But add another request:

“Waheguru, bless me with Your remembrance.”

Ask for Naam when life is easy and when it is difficult.

Ask for forgiveness when you fall short.

Ask for the gift of Bandagi so that your relationship with Waheguru becomes deeper than your changing circumstances.

May Guru Sahib bless us with Waheguru's refuge, forgiveness, Naam, humility and the priceless gift of Bandagi. 🙏
