🌿 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
Give up your envy of others, O foolish mind! Your stay in this world is only for a night. Intoxicated by Maya, you must eventually rise and depart, yet you remain absorbed in this passing dream.
✨ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
Today's Hukamnama delivers a profound reminder about the temporary nature of human life and the spiritual dangers of jealousy, ego and excessive attachment.
Guru Sahib begins with a direct instruction: “ਛਾਡਿ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਤਾਤਿ ਮੂੜੇ” — give up envy of others.
How often do we compare our possessions, achievements, homes, careers and circumstances with those around us? Such comparisons can quietly steal our contentment and distance our hearts from gratitude.
Gurbani then reminds us that our stay in this world is like a single night. We arrive with nothing, spend our lives accumulating possessions and eventually depart without taking those possessions with us.
This does not mean that earning wealth, building a family or fulfilling responsibilities is wrong. Sikh teachings encourage honest work, family life and sharing with others.
The danger begins when possessions become our identity and attachment makes us forget Waheguru.
The comparison with a dream is especially meaningful. During a dream, everything appears real and important. Yet upon awakening, we realise how temporary it was.
Similarly, worldly status, possessions and recognition cannot provide permanent spiritual security.
Guru Sahib encourages us to awaken through Naam Simran, truthful living, humility and Seva.
Instead of envying another person's blessings, appreciate your own. Instead of becoming consumed by what you lack, recognise the precious gift of life already entrusted to you.
True success is not measured only by what we accumulate, but also by how compassionately, honestly and spiritually we live.
🙏 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆:
Never waste your precious life comparing yourself with others. Be grateful for your blessings, earn honestly, share generously and remember Waheguru.
Life is temporary, but the spiritual value of a life devoted to Naam, humility and Seva is immeasurable.
