Saṯgur bājẖahu vaiḏ na koī.
Āpe āp niranjan soī.
Saṯgur miliai marai manḏā hovai giān bīcẖārī jīo.

🌿 English Meaning

Other than the True Guru, there is no spiritual physician. He Himself is the Immaculate Lord. Meeting with the True Guru, inner negativity is conquered and one becomes contemplative of Divine wisdom.

✨ Reflection

Today's Hukamnama presents a powerful image:

the Satguru as the physician of our inner life.

Guru Sahib says:

Without the True Guru, there is no such physician.

When our physical body becomes unwell, we recognise the need for treatment. But there are also conditions of the mind and inner life that may remain unnoticed for years.

Ego can distort the way we see ourselves.

Anger can damage relationships.

Greed can make abundance feel insufficient.

Attachment can make change unbearable.

Jealousy can prevent us from appreciating our own blessings.

Gurbani helps us recognise these inner tendencies and provides spiritual guidance for transforming them.

The next line reminds us:

The Divine is pure and untouched by Maya.

Guru Sahib therefore does not merely give us information. Through Shabad, the Guru directs our consciousness towards the One beyond the very attachments that trouble us.

Then comes the transformation:

Through meeting the True Guru, what is harmful within us begins to lose its power.

This is an important way to understand spiritual progress.

It is not simply about how much Gurbani we can quote or how much religious knowledge we possess.

We can ask:

Am I becoming more patient?

Is my ego becoming smaller?

Do I forgive more easily?

Are my words becoming kinder?

Am I becoming more compassionate?

Does Gurbani influence my decisions?

If the Guru's wisdom is entering our life, some transformation should gradually become visible in our character.

The final words point towards ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ — contemplation of spiritual wisdom.

Reading Gurbani is precious. Reflecting upon Gurbani and allowing its wisdom to influence everyday life takes us deeper.

🙏 Message for Today

When something disturbs your mind today, do not only react immediately.

Pause.

Turn towards Gurbani and ask:

What is Guru Sahib teaching me about the way I am thinking, speaking or responding?

Let Shabad become the medicine that helps transform the inner life.

May Guru Sahib bless us with love for Gurbani, wisdom to recognise our inner weaknesses and the strength to transform them through Shabad, Naam and Divine Grace. 🙏
