Kabīr gangā ṯīr jo ghar karahi pīvahi nirmal nīr.
Bin har bẖagaṯ na mukaṯ hoi io kahi rame Kabīr.

🌿 Meaning (English):
O Kabir, even those who live beside the River Ganges and drink its pure water cannot attain liberation without devotion to the Lord. Bhagat Kabir Ji declares this eternal truth.

(Hindi):
भगत कबीर जी कहते हैं कि जो लोग गंगा के किनारे रहते हैं और उसका पवित्र जल पीते हैं, वे भी प्रभु की भक्ति के बिना मुक्ति प्राप्त नहीं कर सकते।

💫 Reflection:
Bhagat Kabir Ji reminds us that true spirituality cannot be achieved merely through sacred places, outward rituals, or physical purification.

Living beside a holy river does not automatically cleanse the mind of ego, greed, anger, and attachment. Genuine spiritual transformation comes through devotion, remembrance of Waheguru, and truthful living.

Gurbani teaches us that purity begins within the heart. When we practise Naam Simran, compassion, humility, and Seva, our connection with the Divine becomes deeper and more meaningful.

Sacred places may inspire devotion, but liberation comes through inner awakening and Divine Grace.

🌼 Message for Today:
Seek purity within your heart, remember Waheguru sincerely, and let your actions reflect true devotion.

🙏 Shared with heartfelt gratitude to Sri Guru Ram Das Ji for His endless blessings. 🙏

FAQs

Q1. What is the meaning of today's Hukamnama from SGGS Ang 1367?

Bhagat Kabir Ji teaches that spiritual liberation cannot be achieved merely by living near a sacred river or drinking its pure water. True liberation requires sincere devotion to the Divine and inner spiritual transformation.

Q2. What does "ਕਬੀਰ ਗੰਗਾ ਤੀਰ ਜੁ ਘਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ" mean?

It refers to people who establish their homes beside the River Ganges. Bhagat Kabir Ji uses this example to explain that living in a place considered sacred does not automatically make someone spiritually liberated.

Q3. What does "ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਇ" mean?

It means that liberation cannot be attained without devotion to the Lord. The verse emphasises genuine spiritual connection rather than relying solely on outward religious practices.

Q4. Who composed this Gurbani on Ang 1367?

This verse was composed by Bhagat Kabir Ji, whose sacred Bani is included in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. His teachings frequently challenge empty ritualism, social divisions, ego, and superficial religious practices.

Q5. Does Gurbani reject visiting sacred places?

Gurbani challenges the belief that visiting sacred places or performing external rituals automatically brings spiritual liberation.

Visiting places of worship can provide opportunities for prayer, Sangat, reflection, and learning. However, spiritual transformation requires devotion, humility, and truthful conduct.

Q6. What is the difference between physical cleanliness and spiritual purity?

Physical cleanliness concerns the body and surroundings, while spiritual purity involves overcoming ego, greed, anger, hatred, and attachment.

Both have their place in daily life, but Gurbani teaches that external cleanliness alone cannot replace inner spiritual development.

Q7. What does Mukti mean in Sikhism?

Mukti means spiritual liberation. Sikh teachings describe liberation as freedom from ego and attachment through Naam, Guru's Grace, and living in harmony with Divine Hukam.

Spiritual liberation is not limited to something experienced after death; Gurbani also teaches the possibility of liberation while living.

Q8. How can Naam Simran help us develop inner purity?

Naam Simran encourages continual remembrance of Waheguru. Through sincere spiritual practice, individuals can develop greater humility, patience, compassion, and awareness of their thoughts and actions.

Q9. What is Bhagat Kabir Ji's message about religious rituals?

Bhagat Kabir Ji repeatedly reminds us that outward religious appearances and rituals have limited spiritual value when the heart remains filled with ego or attachment.

His teachings encourage genuine devotion, honest living, and recognition of the Divine beyond superficial differences.

Q10. How can we apply this Hukamnama in everyday life?

We can practise this teaching by remembering Waheguru, avoiding empty displays of religiosity, treating others compassionately, performing Seva, speaking truthfully, and examining our intentions.

The aim is to make devotion visible through our character and actions rather than relying only on outward practices.

🙏 With Heartfelt Gratitude

With deep humility and gratitude, we bow before Sri Guru Ram Das Ji for His endless blessings, compassion, and spiritual guidance.

We offer our heartfelt reverence to Bhagat Kabir Ji, whose timeless Bani reminds us that true spirituality is found not merely in sacred places or outward rituals, but in sincere devotion and a heart connected to the Creator.

May Guru Sahib bless us with the wisdom to look beyond appearances, the humility to recognise our shortcomings, and the courage to transform our lives through Naam Simran and truthful living.

May we never confuse outward religious practices with spiritual achievement, but instead seek the priceless blessings of Divine remembrance, compassion, and selfless service.

May every home be blessed with peace, good health, love, harmony, and spiritual contentment.
