✨ Daily Hukamnama Reflection – SGGS Ang 523 ✨
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਹੋਵਣਾ ॥
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਰਖਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਹ ਜਾਇ ਖੜੋਵਣਾ ॥
जिउ जिउ तेरा हुकमु तिवै तिउ होवणा ॥
जह जह रखहि आपि तह जाइ खड़ोवणा ॥
Jio jio ṯerā hukam ṯivai ṯio hovṇā.
Jah jah rakẖėh āp ṯah jāe kẖaṛovaṇā.
🌿 Meaning (English):
As is Your Hukam, so everything happens. Wherever You Yourself place me, there I go and stand.
🌿 ਅਰਥ (Punjabi - Gurmukhi):
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
🌿 अर्थ (Hindi):
हे प्रभु! जैसा आपका हुक्म होता है, वैसा ही सब कुछ घटित होता है। आप मुझे जहाँ भी रखते हैं, मैं वहीं आपकी रज़ा में रहता हूँ।
💫 Reflection:
This Hukamnama teaches one of Gurbani's deepest principles—living in acceptance of Waheguru's Hukam.
We naturally make plans and hope that life will unfold according to our wishes. But sometimes circumstances change, doors close, unexpected challenges appear, or life takes us somewhere we never imagined. Guru Sahib reminds us that peace begins when sincere effort is joined with trust in Waheguru.
Accepting Hukam does not mean becoming passive or giving up. We should work honestly, fulfil our responsibilities, and make wise decisions—but without allowing fear about the outcome to consume us.
When something does not happen according to our plan, instead of asking only, “Why has this happened to me?”, Gurbani helps us develop the strength to say, “Waheguru, guide me through whatever You have placed before me.”

Do your best, then trust Waheguru with the outcome. Wherever life places you, remain connected to Naam and walk forward in His Hukam.
